Sanjay Leela Bhansali: Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Gangubai Kathiawadi turned out to be a critically acclaimed film. Recently the film launched a campaign for the 2023 Bafta Awards in all categories. But Bhansali is not one to sit idle. Soon after he wrapped up Gangubai Kathiawadi with Alia Bhatt, Ajay Devgn, Shantanu Maheshwari, Vijay Raaz and Seema Pahwa, Bhansali dived into his highly ambitious project – Heeramandi. The film has Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Fardeen Khan and Farida Jalal in key roles. Netflix announced the project in August last year with SLB.
And now we have come to know that Jackie Shroff has joined the cast of Heeramandi. Jackie and SLB reunite for the film after 20 years. The last time they collaborated was in 2002 for the period romantic-drama, Devdas. The film starred Shah Rukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Madhuri Dixit Nene in lead roles. Shroff played SRK’s friend Chunni Babu in the movie.

Meanwhile, it is learnt the SLB has already shot for a major portion of Heeramandi. Filming is expected to resume soon. The filmmaker is redoing the set with some newer elements for the future sequences of the show.

Earlier, when Sonakshi Sinha was asked about being a part of the project, she said. “There are speculations but I’ll wait for Sanjay Sir and his team to make official announcements. I don’t want to be saying anything, or stepping out of line. But yes, there are speculations, and people can speculate all they want.”
Heeramandi coming to Netflix
While making the announcement on Instagram about Heeramandi, Netflix had mentioned, “We are excited to announce that Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Heeramandi IS COMING TO NETFLIX. Words aren’t enough to explain how excited we are that Sanjay Leela Bhansali is partnering with us for this epic Netflix Original series but these emojis come pretty close.”
