The new season of Engaged: Roka Ya Dhoka (Engaged Season 2) has triggered a strong reaction online. Hosted by Elvish Yadav and Jiya Shankar, Season 2 premiered on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2026. The first seven episodes are currently streaming on Jio Hotstar.
Soon after the episodes dropped, social media platforms filled with clips and comments. Viewers quickly began debating the show’s tasks. While some fans called Elvish Yadav and Jiya Shankar’s show entertaining, many others described the challenges as “vulgar” and “uncomfortable.”

Engaged Season 2 Controversy: Elvish Yadav, Jiya Shankar And Show Faces Backlash
One of the earliest tasks raised eyebrows. Female contestants were asked to throw dirt on the participant they believed was “fake.” Male contestants then had to wash the dirt off the women’s bodies. The segment did not sit well with many viewers.
A user questioned the format and wrote, “Which type of task is this in Engaged Season 2?”
Soon after, another challenge (the lap dance task) grabbed attention. During the episode, Jiya Shankar instructed contestant Dipankana Das to perform a lap dance for Biswanjit Ghosh. A video from the segment spread rapidly across social media, fuelling further debate.
One reaction tweet read, “Ye kaisa tharki show chal rha hai.” Another user said, “No need to go to GB road for Kotha, Nowadays we have digital kothas. Inke ghar wale kuch nahi bolte kyaa? (sic)”
Criticism also directly targeted the hosts. A user commented, “Shame on Elvish Yadav and Jiya Shankar.”
Another task added to the backlash. In this challenge, male contestants had to hold an ice cube in their mouths and roll it over a woman’s body. One viewer posted the video and wrote, “Ewwww.”

Separately, a moment involving a contestant’s banana analogy stirred chatter. The contestant was heard saying, “Tere paas bhi hai aur khate bhi hain.” Reacting to the clip, a user tweeted, “Engaged and Uske Tasks. Himansi Plz Hesitate Bro.”
Some viewers defended the show as bold and experimental. Others argued that it crossed the line of comfort.
