Singer Chimayi Sripada shared a message for Rashmika on Instagram. She wrote, “Congratulations Rashmika Mandanna on your Telangana state award! All this and more awards should come your way!! (sic).”
Rashmika reshared the message on her Instagram story. She also tagged The Girlfriend director Rahul Ravindran and wrote, “Rahulaaaa! I can’t believe ittt!!”

About Rashmika Mandanna Starrer The Girlfriend
Released in 2025, The Girlfriend is a Telugu romantic drama directed by Rahul Ravindran. In the film, Rashmika Mandanna plays Bhooma Devi, a shy postgraduate literature student who moves to Hyderabad for her studies. During college, Bhooma meets Vikram, played by Dheekshith Shetty. At first, their relationship looks like a normal campus romance. However, things slowly change as Vikram becomes controlling and manipulative.
The film focuses on Bhooma’s emotional struggle. She faces gaslighting and isolation in the relationship. Over time, she gathers the courage to stand up for herself and reclaim her identity. The story highlights themes of emotional abuse, self-respect, and empowerment. Many critics appreciated Rashmika’s performance. Several reviewers described it as one of the most powerful roles of her career.
Even though Rashmika Mandanna received praise for her acting, the film had a mixed performance at the box office. The Girlfriend opened with around Rs 1.30 crore net in India on November 7, 2025. The film saw some growth over the weekend because of positive word-of-mouth about Rashmika’s performance. However, the momentum slowed down later.
After four weeks in theatres, the film ended its disastrous run with a worldwide gross of about Rs 29.19 crore. The reported budget of the film was Rs 42 crore, which meant it recovered only about 44% of its production cost.
Despite the theatrical result, the film performed better in the digital market. The streaming rights were reportedly sold to Netflix for ₹14 crore, helping the makers recover some of their investment.
