‘Ulta Chor Kotwal Ko …’ Fawad Chaudhry Calls for ‘Indian Muslim Rights’ Over Saif Ali Khan Attack, Netizens Remind Him of Daily Attacks on Pakistan’s Minorities
Fawad Chaudhry's reaction to the Saif Ali Khan attack has sparked debates online. The Pakistani politician urged action for Indian Muslims, drawing sharp netizen criticism.
Saif Ali Khan Attack: The brutal attack on Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan has sent shockwaves across the entertainment industry and social media platforms. The incident has not only alarmed fans but also drawn reactions from unexpected quarters, including across the border in Pakistan. Former Pakistan minister Fawad Chaudhry, infamous for his polarising remarks, has now commented on the incident, adding a controversial dimension to the ongoing discussion. Taking to X, Chaudhry claimed the attack reflects growing threats to Muslim actors in India.

However, his comments have sparked widespread backlash. Critics labeled his remarks as politically motivated, accusing him of using the incident to push a broader narrative of religious bias. Many pointed out the irony of Pakistan addressing violence against Muslims while facing its own long history of persecution against Shias and Ahmadis.
Fawad Chaudhry Reacts to Saif Ali Khan Attack
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Chaudhry wrote, "Saif Ali Khan hospitalised: Actor stabbed six times by intruder… Muslim actors are facing serious life threats since the rise of Hindu Mahasabha… Pakistan must rise for the rights of Indian Muslims."

The statement sparked a mixed reaction, with many questioning Chaudhry’s priorities. One Pakistani user commented, “What about happening in Pakistan? We should fix ourselves first, which fight are we doing for rule and law in the country?” Another remarked sarcastically, “At least do your comedy properly!”
Pakistan’s Record of Atrocities Against Minorities
The criticism of Fawad Chaudhry’s remarks also highlighted Pakistan’s own poor track record concerning minorities. Pakistan has a long history of violence against Shias, who constitute 10-12% of the population. Public killings of Shias are not uncommon. For instance, in November 2024, dozens of Shias were killed in an ambush by Sunni extremists.
Ahmadis and Balochs have also faced systemic violence in Pakistan. According to a BBC report, between 2010 and April 2022, Ahmadis were targeted in 28 public attacks. Since 2021, there have been nearly 30 attacks on Ahmadi religious sites, resulting in many deaths.
Given this history, critics argue that Pakistan’s attempts to lecture India on minority rights are hypocritical. Social media users have slammed Fawad Chaudhry, pointing out Pakistan’s atrocities against its own minority groups.
