Yash Raj Films’ War 2 is all set to release on August 14, starring Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR, and Kiara Advani. The action-packed spy thriller has fans excited, but before it hits theatres, the film underwent several changes following the Central Board of Film Certification’s (CBFC) review.
CBFC Censors Kiara Advani’s Bikini Scenes And More From War 2
As reported by Bollywood Hugama, CBFC asked the filmmakers to make significant edits, especially concerning Kiara Advani’s sensual scenes. Reports reveal that the board demanded the reduction of “inappropriate references” in six places and asked for a complete replacement of an “obscene” dialogue with a milder version.
A two-second “obscene” gesture, appearing shortly after the dialogue, was cut entirely. Most notably, around nine seconds of the bikini scenes featuring Kiara Advani were toned down by 50%. Despite these cuts, War 2 was awarded a U/A 16+ certificate, with the original runtime being nearly three hours.
Surprisingly, the makers then voluntarily trimmed the film by over eight minutes to improve pacing. These additional cuts, which lowered the runtime to about 2 hours and 51 minutes, were made without further demands from the CBFC, and the film’s major action sequences remain untouched.

War 2 pits Hrithik Roshan’s Major Kabir Dhaliwal against Jr NTR’s Vikram in a high-stakes battle. Both are spies but hold different views on patriotism, creating intense conflict. Kiara Advani plays Kavya Luthra, a key character whose role is expected to influence the unfolding drama.
Directed by Ayan Mukerji, this sequel follows the success of the 2019 War, which was praised for its slick action and storytelling. War 2 is part of Yash Raj Films’ expanding Spy Universe, linking stories from films like Pathaan and Tiger Zinda Hai.
Advance Booking Report: War 2 Vs Coolie
The film faces stiff competition from Rajinikanth’s Coolie as both release on the same day. While War 2 is yet to start advance bookings in some regions, early reports show strong demand for premium formats like IMAX and 4DX, especially in big cities. Fans of Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR are expected to draw large crowds, particularly in Telugu-speaking states where Jr NTR’s Bollywood debut is highly anticipated. Trade experts predict a record-breaking opening for War 2 during the Independence Day weekend.
On the other hand, Coolie has already opened bookings but shows slower sales, with around Rs 2.8 crore worth of tickets sold across 2,822 shows nationwide. Including block bookings, the total value rises to Rs 5.27 crore.
