Rashmika Mandanna Wedding: Pradhanam Ceremony Explained
Pradhanam ceremony is a traditional pre-wedding ritual often seen in Telugu Hindu weddings. It is a symbolic moment where both families formally come together before the main wedding.
During this ritual, elders bless the couple and gifts or sweets are exchanged. The ceremony represents acceptance, unity and good wishes for the couple’s future.
One of the most interesting parts of the ritual involves a decorated pot filled with milk and rose petals. A gold ring is dropped into the pot and placed near the mandap.
The bride and groom then place their hands inside the pot and try to find the ring. The game is usually repeated three times. According to tradition, the person who finds the ring more often is playfully believed to have the “upper hand” in the marriage.
Family members often cheer loudly during the ritual. This makes the moment fun and memorable for everyone attending the celebration.
Telugu weddings are known for their rich traditions. In the past, wedding celebrations could last for as long as 16 days. Today, most weddings take place over two to five days but still include many meaningful rituals.
Mehendi Design And Symbolic Bridal Look Of Rashmika Mandanna
For her mehendi ceremony, Rashmika Mandanna chose a minimal yet meaningful design instead of heavily filled palms. This style is becoming popular among modern brides who prefer elegant and symbolic patterns.
One of her palms featured the sacred Om symbol, which represents peace, blessings and spiritual energy. The mehendi also included delicate floral patterns and symmetrical designs extending along her fingers.
Her outfit also carried deep cultural meaning. Rashmika wore a traditional ensemble by the Indian label Torani in shades of green, red and gold. The outfit featured a detailed embroidered choli with stones, beadwork and sequins. She paired it with a mirror-worked lehenga and a richly designed dupatta.
One striking element was the Goddess Lakshmi motif embroidered on the dupatta within a temple-style arch inspired by Tanjore art. In Indian bridal traditions, Lakshmi symbolises prosperity, good fortune and a blessed new beginning.
Rashmika completed the look with layered diamond and ruby necklaces, adding a royal touch to her traditional outfit.
Vijay Deverakonda’s Co-ordinated Traditional Look
Vijay Deverakonda complemented Rashmika Mandanna’s look with a coordinated traditional outfit.
He wore a deep blue silk dhoti-style bottom with a green kurta and an embroidered jacket. The jacket featured colourful motifs inspired by traditional Indian art. The earthy colours of both outfits created a balanced and harmonious look for the couple.
The Pradhanam and Mehendi celebration took place just one day before the couple’s wedding. Rashmika Mandanna and Vijay Deverakonda tied the knot on February 26 at the luxurious ITC Mementos Udaipur in Rajasthan.
