Covid-19 update: India fatality toll crosses the grim milestone of 1.25 lakh

India’s covid-19 tally rose to 84,62, 801 with fresh new 50,357 infections in last 24-hour. With 577 new deaths, death from the covid-19 reached the grim milestone of 1.25 lakh.

Total 11,65,42,304 samples tested up to November 6. Of these, 11,13,209 samples were tested yesterday: ICMR

The national capital reported 7,178 coronavirus cases on Friday – the highest number of cases since the first case of covid-19 was reported in January this year. For last three days, Delhi had been reporting over 6,000 coronavirus cases daily.

There are 5,16,632 active cases in the country as of date while the recovery rate stand at 92.32 per cent.

*A day after 80 teachers, employed at 23 government schools of Pauri district, tested positive for Covid-19 on Thursday, the health department has now started the contact tracing of over 500 students who came in contact with them.

State health secretary Amit Negi says, “District Magistrates of all the 13 districts have been directed to conduct covid tests of on-duty school teachers.”

*The Ministry of External Affairs on Friday briefed more than 190 heads of diplomatic missions and international organisations on Covid-related issues.

*Haryana too continued to report a spike with 2,267 cases detected on Friday.

Friday’s spike also marked the third consecutive day that the country has surpassed the 100,000 mark for single-day cases, the University said in its latest update.

*White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows has tested positive for the novel coronavirus, an official has confirmed.

*Chile could experience a new outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic in a few months, Health Minister Enrique Paris said.

*Another 23,287 people in the UK have tested positive for the novel coronavirus, which increased the country’s overall infection tally to 1,146,484, according to official figures.

* France confirmed a new record of 60,486 COVID-19 cases within 24 hours, beating Thursday’s tally of 58,046 cases, official data showed.

Meanwhile, The overall number of global coronavirus cases has topped the 49 million mark, while the deaths have surged to more than 1,241,360, according to the Johns Hopkins University.
