India reports 2,075 new Covid cases and 71 deaths in last 24 hours

India adds 2,075 Covid-19 cases and 71 deaths in the past 24 hours, according to the data released by the Union Health Ministry on Saturday. India’s cumulative caseload has surged to 43,006,080 while the active cases have declined to 27,802, comprising 0.06% of the overall caseload.

In the past 24 hours, the active cases shrink to 1,379. So far, 4.24 crore people have recovered from Covid -19 in the country since March 2020 while 5,16,352 have died due to respiratory infection. As many as 3,383 people got recovered from Covid-19 in the past day.

The daily Covid positivity rate in the Delhi stands at 0.43 per cent, while the number of active cases has declined to 602. With recovery rate climbing to 98.57 per cent, the death rate stands at 1.40 per cent.With 148 patients recovering in the last 24 hours, the total number of recoveries has gone to 18,36,866. A total of 432 Covid patients are being treated in home isolation.The number of Covid containment zones has also declined to 3238 in the city.

Mumbai on Friday recorded 48 new coronavirus cases and zero pandemic-related fatalities, PTI reported. The caseload in the megapolis rose to 10,57,505 while death toll stood unchanged at 16,693. There are 317 active patients in the city now. As many as 54 patients were discharged from hospitals since previous evening.

Nineteen of the 38 districts in Tamil Nadu had no new Covid-19 cases and ten districts reported one case on Friday when Tamil Nadu added 61 new cases of the viral infection to its cumulative tally.

There were zero covid deaths and the state discharged 127 patients. At the end of the day, there were 730 active cases of Covid-19. With 19 fresh cases, Chennai continued to report the highest number of new cases in the state. Of the 730 active cases, Chennai had 247 followed by 81 in Chengalpet and 79 in Coimbatore.
Meanwhile, 2.08 lakh people including 1.6 lakh in the 12-14 age group took the vaccination against Covid-19 on Friday.
