Indore News: Indore Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) Dr Madhav Prasad Hasani has remarked that a laboratory test has confirmed that bacteria found in sewer water caused contamination, which resulted in the death of at least 9 residents and hospitalization of more than 100 people.

What’s important about the Indore News?

A city-based medical college prepared the test report. It was revealed that the deaths and hospitalizations of residents in Indore’s Bhagirathpura area were caused by bacteria “usually found in sewer water.”

Meanwhile, the Madhya Pradesh government has received a notice from the National Human Rights Commission over the Indore deaths.

What started the Indore water tragedy?

According to local residents, people started complaining about an unusual smell on December 25 in water.

Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) Dr Madhav Hasani said the report by Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College lab revealed that the consumption of contaminated water was the primary cause. He added that the “bacteria-laden” water was caused due to a leak in the pipeline.

More than 2,456 people have experienced diarrhea and vomiting symptoms in the area, of which 162 have been hospitalized.
