Sinusitis Symptoms And Prevention: Feeling tired all the time, even after proper sleep? Losing focus at work without any clear reason? You might be blaming stress or burnout, but an AIIMS doctor says the real cause could be something many people overlook – sinusitis.
In a recent Instagram video, AIIMS doctor Priyanka Sehrawat shared her own experience to spread awareness. She revealed how a silent health issue slowly disrupted her daily routine and work efficiency, despite all test reports appearing normal.
Dr Sehrawat said she had a habit of waking up at 4 am every day. However, over the past two months, she began feeling unusually exhausted. The fatigue was so intense that she could no longer wake up early. Her work efficiency dropped to almost 20 per cent. Concerned, she got her blood tests done, but everything came back normal.
That is when she noticed a pattern. In just two months, she had suffered from cold episodes three to four times, each lasting several days. This was unusual for her. Suspecting an underlying issue, she went for a CT scan of her paranasal sinuses. The diagnosis confirmed left maxillary sinusitis. With proper treatment, her energy levels slowly returned, and she was able to resume her early-morning routine.
Sinusitis Symptoms You Should Not Ignore
One of the biggest myths around sinusitis is that it always comes with high fever, chills or severe pain. Dr Sehrawat clarified that this is not always the case. In fact, sinusitis can quietly affect your body without dramatic symptoms.
Some common early signs include a heavy feeling in the head, pain or pressure around the eyes, a sore throat on waking up, and a constant mucus-like sensation in the throat. Repeated cold episodes and unexplained tiredness can also be warning signs. If left untreated, these symptoms can impact productivity, sleep quality and overall health.
Simple Habits For Prevention
Sinusitis can often be prevented with small but consistent lifestyle changes. According to the AIIMS doctor, immunity plays a key role. Eating meals on time, exercising regularly and staying active outdoors can help strengthen the body’s natural defences.
Diet also matters. Including vitamin C and antioxidant-rich fruits such as guava, amla, lemon and oranges can support immune health. Hydration is equally important. Drinking at least two to three litres of water daily helps keep mucus thin and supports sinus drainage.
Dr Sehrawat stressed that early awareness is crucial. If you notice persistent fatigue along with frequent colds or facial discomfort, do not ignore it. Timely diagnosis and treatment can prevent long-term complications and help you regain your energy.
Sinusitis may not always look serious, but as this real-life experience shows, it can quietly drain your health. Listening to your body and acting early can make all the difference.
