Haircare Tips: Castor oil is made from castor beans which are mainly found in tropical East Africa. Castor oil is mainly used in cosmetic and medicinal products in India. The colour of castor oil is mostly clear or pale yellow. And if castor oil is made by roasting or boiling, it is called black castor oil. Although there are many benefits of castor plants, their seeds and beans are poisonous. Sometimes it can also be fatal, so it is prohibited to ingest into the body in any way. Let's take a look at five benefits of castor oil.
Provides hydration and moisture
Applying castor oil to hair and root provides hydration. Castor oil is rich in amino acids like ricinoleic acid which is very beneficial for the hair. Along with this, it also contains Omega 6 and Omega 9 fatty acids which gives moisture to the hair.
Adds shine and softness
Castor oil acts as a natural conditioner that keeps tresses healthy, shiny, and soft. Apart from this, castor oil contains oleic and linoleic acids which protect the natural beauty of the hair.
Promotes hair growth
If castor oil is used in the hair and massaged gently, the blood circulation in the scalp improves. Hair growth is promoted if the blood circulation is correct. Apart from this, castor oil has emollient properties which protect hair from dryness and damage.
Contains antibacterial and antimicrobial properties
A sticky scalp is common in monsoons, which makes one prone to infections. The reason for this is the lack of attention on the scalp due to which dandruff, itching, eruptions and other problems may have to be faced. Castor oil has antibacterial and antimicrobial properties that reduces the growth of microorganisms and improve scalp health.
Rich source of Vitamin E
Castor oil contains Vitamin E and fatty acids which are useful for hair. Along with this, it synthesises protein, due to which hair growth occurs and shine remains.
