Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev talked about some really good tips on how to eat so that you can keep yourself healthy and happy.

Pay Attention

Eating shouldn’t be a daily ritual. You have to pay attention. You consume that much because your body requires that much food today. It might not need as much tomorrow. All creatures understand this. Not our thoughts, but our attention is what matters most. Our understanding is a result of the scant information we have obtained. That will not lead to any progress. Our ability to shift from one dimension of existence to another is based on how keen and intense our attention is.

Eat With Gratitude

Eating is necessary, but we should do so while appreciating the nourishment that the meal provides and feeling thankful for its significance to our lives. This is not meant to diminish the enjoyment of food. Eating brings true joy as it makes you aware of another existence that is willing to blend into your own and become you. The greatest joy a person can experience is when something that is not they agree to merge with them. Consuming food is a sign of the unity of all things. This lovely procedure is taking place every day during your supper.

Sit on the floor in the cross-legged posture

Within the Yogic tradition, it is customary to cross one’s legs and refrain from extending them towards an energy form. It is always the desire of the Yogi to receive it from the higher realms of your existence. A consecrated location indicates the presence of a potent force that can change you.

Therefore, you always cross your legs and sit down in any area where you perceive power and energy because you wish to block off your lower body. It’s crucial to cross your legs anytime you spot a strong form. Food has a lot of power as well.  You must cross your legs when the dish is served.

Eat with Your Hands

You cannot identify food when you do not touch it. I don’t know how food can be considered edible if it isn’t decent enough to touch! Furthermore, while a spoon or fork may not always be clean in your hands, your hands are fully responsible for its cleanliness. You can be certain that these hands are clean at this moment because nobody else has used them but you.

When food is placed in front of you, take a few moments to feel its texture with your hands on it. I don’t need to taste anything to know what to eat or not eat if it just feels right on my plate. The initial degree of culinary knowledge comes from my hands.
