What is Leg Cramp, and What Natural Foods Should You Eat to Combat It?

Leg cramp is a muscular pain, which is caused due to many reasons, such as dehydration, mineral deficiency, pregnancy, overuse of muscles, strenuous exercises, fatigue, sitting or standing for a long time, etc. Although medicines can help you mitigate this muscular pain, eating natural foods can be very effective. These foods include the following: 

Banana

These fruits are a good source of energy. They contain magnesium and potassium in a large quantity, which eases leg cramps. You can consume by them chopping into smaller pieces, and making their juice by adding water to them.  You can also eat them with oats.

Spinach

This vegetable contains magnesium, and iron in a large quantity. The former helps in maintaining good health of the body, and the latter increases the oxygen supply to muscles. In addition, it contains vitamin Kwhich maintains the health of bones. You can eat it in various forms—cooked, soup, and salad. 

Potato

This vegetable contains potassium and carbohydrates in a large quantity. The former eases muscle cramps and the latter energizes the muscles. In addition, it contains vitamin B6 which makes nerves healthy. You can take it in various forms—boiled, curry, smashed and baked. 

What Other Steps Should You Take?

Take balanced diet, drink plenty of water and abstain from liquor consumption and smoking. Sleep for 7-8 hours every day. From time to time, get your vitamin levels checked by your doctor.
