13,000 Indian SIM cards sent to China: BSF

The interrogation of a suspected Chinese national, who was arrested by the Border Security Force (BSF) on Thursday while infiltrating along the Indo-Bangladesh border in Bengal’s Malda district, has made a very shocking revelation.

The BSF issued a statement on Friday saying that the during interrogation, he told that in the last two years, at least 1,300 Indian SIM cards have been sent to China.

The SIM cards were used to hack accounts and commit all kinds of financial frauds and scams in India, the 35-year-old Chinese man said.

At least 1,300 Indian SIM cards were smuggled to China,” said SS Guleria, DIG BSF (South Bengal Frontier), adding that the accused’s statements need to be verified.

It is not clear, for instance, how they managed to procure such a large number of SIM cards in the first place. Interrogation also revealed that Junwe’s associates used to hide the SIM cards in their undergarments to smuggle them out of India.

SS Guleria, DIG BSF also mentioned that the BSF is trying to find out whether he was working for any intelligence agency or any organization that works against India.

Notably, the Chinese National was caught by them at Malda while the ‘suspicious’ person tried to cross the border.

According to the BSF officials, Han Junwe was in Bangladesh before he entered West Bengal.

After primary investigation, the BSF found one laptop, three mobile phones, Indian, Bangladeshi, US currency, one Chinese Passport with Bangladeshi visa was recovered from Han Junwe.
