30 Injured, As 48 Vehicles Collided On Pune-Bengaluru Highway

As many as 48 vehicles collided with a truck near a bridge on the Mumbai-Bangalore highway. These vehicles were damaged in the accident and more than 50 were injured. Many of these are said to be serious. It happened late Sunday evening when the container lost control while descending the slope near the bridge and hit the speeding vehicles coming from the front.

According to the police, the cause of the accident is said to be failure of the brake of the container. Eyewitnesses said that fire brigade personnel, policemen and passers-by were involved in the rescue operation at the spot. The injured are being treated in two hospitals.

The injured were admitted to the hospital

According to information provided by the local police and fire services of Pune City and Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority, the incident took place at Navale Bridge area around 8.30 pm. PMRDA fire department’s fire officer Sujit Patil said some of the injured were admitted to nearby hospitals by the citizens living nearby.

Sinhagad Road police station official said that the accident took place at Navale bridge. Pune Fire Brigade officials and Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) team have reached the spot. The reasons for the accident are yet to be known. It is suspected that the accident occurred due to the driver losing control of the truck due to brake failure. Further details are awaited.

One person died on the Mumbai-Bengaluru highway

A person was killed when a truck collided with a motorcycle on the Mumbai-Bengaluru highway in Maharashtra’s Pune district, while a trailer hit four vehicles in another accident, police said on Monday. The accidents took place hours after a vehicle collision on the Nawale bridge on that route at around 10.30 pm on Sunday, in which 24 vehicles were damaged, an official of Bharati Vidyapeeth police station said.

The motorcyclist died after being hit by a truck outside a tunnel on the Mumbai-Bengaluru highway, he said.
