Airforce Plane Crash: One pilot dead after IAF’s two fighter jets crash, further probe launched | Details here

Airforce Plane Crash: An unfortunate accident occurred earlier today during a training exercise of the Indian Air Force, as two fighter jets – a Sukhoi Su-30 and a Mirage 2000 – crashed, resulting in the tragic loss of one pilot. The Sukhoi aircraft went down in Morena, Madhya Pradesh, while the Mirage is believed to have crashed around 100 km away in Bharatpur, Rajasthan.

The airplanes were on routine exercise

According to sources, the Sukhoi had a crew of two pilots, while the Mirage had one pilot. Both types of aircraft are commonly used by the Indian Air Force in active operations. The two pilots on the Sukhoi were able to eject and were transported to the hospital via helicopter.

Both fighter planes took off from the Gwalior Air Force facility, which is home to squadrons of both the French Mirage 2000 and the Russian Sukhoi. Videos from the incident, which were captured by people in Morena, showed burning aeroplane parts scattered over the ground. To determine if a mid-air contact caused the disaster, the Air Force has opened an investigation.
