I didn’t know that would be my last conversation with him. After serving for 15 years, a family member claimed that Somvir eventually wished to relocate abroad.”

According to Rann Singh, whose son is also in the Army, at least 15 to 20 youngsters from their community have enlisted after being inspired by Somvir. He was an athlete who ran 1500-meter races every morning at the village field. He was also fairly adept at Kho-Kho. He used to teach the village’s children how to exercise.
