‘Bahuria’ Smriti Irani cooks khichdi for Bill Gates, shares pic: ‘Throwback to tadake ka tadka’

Smriti Irani: Union minister Smriti Irani had Microsoft founder Bill Gates eating out of her hand at an event recently.  It was a ‘Godh Bharai’ event held by the Ministry of Women and Child Development. Smriti Irani has now shared a picture from the occasion on Instagram where she is cooking millet khichdi as Bill Gates looks on.

Irani captioned the image: The ‘ka kar rahi ho bahuriya (what are you doing daughter-in-law)’ look. Throwback to tadake ka tadka with @thisisbillgates.”

Smriti Irani has acted once in Ekta Kapoor’s TV show, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. She played the role of one the most popular ‘bahus (daughter-in-law)’ on Indian TV.

‘Bill Gates is thinking’

Fans flooded the comments section of Smriti’s post. One of them wrote, “Bahuriya is Miss India finalist. Bahuriya is the greatest bahu on TV. Bahuriya is pappu’s biggest fear. Tum kya jaano Gates Babu?” Another one wrote, “Bill Gates is thinking ” Yaar Indian se e shaadi krni chaiye thi (Should have married an Indian).” One also wondered what was cooking and wrote, “Jeera rice banaya kya (Did you prepare jeera rice).”

Bill Gates was recently visiting India. In the photo Smriti Irani ‘taught’ him how to add tadka to khichdi at a function organized by the Ministry of Women and Child Development.

Bill Gates’ khichdi moment

Later talking to news agencies, Bill Gates said, “I even got to taste millet khichdi, a type of porridge, at a ‘Godh Bharai’ ceremony — similar to a baby shower — for two women hosted by the Ministry of Women and Child Development.”

Bill Gates also shared pictures from his visit on Instagram and wrote on Tuesday, “I just returned from my visit to India, and I can’t wait to go back again. I love visiting India because every trip is an incredible opportunity to learn. During my travels last week in Mumbai, Delhi, and Bangalore, I met some amazing people who taught me how they are using the power of innovation, science, and collaboration to find solutions to the world’s health, climate, and development challenges.”
