Calculated Silence to Global Action: PM Modi Opens Diplomatic Channels Worldwide to Protect India From a Possible Oil and Gas Crisis

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is quietly using diplomacy and domestic policy coordination to safeguard India’s energy security. By engaging global partners and preparing internal contingency plans, the government aims to protect the country from a potential oil and gas supply crisis.

PM Modi: As tensions escalate in West Asia involving Iran, Israel, and the United States, concerns over global oil and gas supply disruptions are growing. India, one of the world’s largest energy importers, is closely monitoring the situation to prevent any major impact on its economy and domestic fuel supply.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government has not issued frequent public statements about every development in the conflict, officials say.

Quiet Diplomacy Through Global Partnerships

India has been working closely with foreign nations in order to maintain secure energy sources. They have developed a number of diplomatic relationships across the Gulf, Europe and other areas. Leaders like French President Emmanuel Macron have discussed ways to keep oil and natural gas flowing continuously and how best to maintain current levels of energy prices. Additionally, India has been communicating with countries like the US, Iran, Israel, Russia and the main Gulf producers.

As one of the world’s largest importers of energy, India has significant market power. Its representatives are using this leverage to create flexible supply agreements, establish alternative transportation routes and look at future sources.

Emergency action by the central government

Along with diplomatic measures, Prime Minister Modi held meetings with important ministers (S. Jaishankar, Hardeep Singh Puri, Nirmala Sitharaman, Piyush Goyal) and discussed plans to be ready for any emergency situation that may arise due to escalating conflict in the Strait of Hormuz, which would affect global shipments of crude oil. The ministers will collaborate so that there are no serious shortages or price surges on petroleum products. They also mentioned that certain sectors were given priority when it came to receiving fuel.

Managing Future Risks

Recent supply disruptions have already triggered localised LPG shortages and anxiety Officials are also reviewing contingency plans to ensure that energy supplies remain stable even if the geopolitical situation worsens.
