Delhi MCD Elections 2022: Arvind Kejriwal, the chief minister of Delhi, stated that if the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) wins the election and takes control of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, resident welfare associations (RWAs) in the capital will be given political and financial power and will function like a mini-councillor of the ward.
Kejriwal’s big proposal ahead of civic elections
The goal of this vision, according to Kejriwal, is to “make people the owners of Delhi” (‘janata ko Dilli ka malik banana hai’), he remarked in remarks to the media soon before the civic elections.
“Today, we want to tell that if the AAP comes to power in the MCD after the municipal poll, we are going to really empower RWAs. We will give them political and financial powers,” added Kejriwal, who serves as the national convener for the AAP. “You all are making door-to-door and Whatsapp appeals to vote for AAP.”
“If any other party’s councillor is made, he will not allow RWAs to work. You have to ensure that the AAP gets all 250 seats,” Kejriwal said.
Civic polls to take place on Decmeber 4
The Delhi MCD Elections 2022, which will take place in 250 wards, are scheduled for December 4. The AAP, BJP, and Congress are expected to compete.
Both the AAP and the BJP have given off the impression that they are confident they will win the election. The counting of the votes will take place on 7th December. In the last MCD election, which took place in 2017 were won by BJP with 181 seats that accounted for 36 % vote.
