Delhi-NCR News: UER 2 Expressway to reduce travel time to 20 minutes

Delhi-NCR News: Nitin Gadkari, the Union Minister of Highways and Transport, discussed the upcoming opening of Delhi’s Urban Extension Road 2, a significant ring road project. During an interaction with members of the Indian Diaspora at the 27th World Road Congress in Prague, he discussed the concept.

The Union Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari during his address said, “Urban Extension Road 2, a ring road will be opened in 2-3 months, normally, if you (people) come to Delhi and then go to the airport it will take 2 hours but after this road opens, you can reach the airport in 20 minutes.”

He mentioned in his speech that the route is likely revolutionise commuting in the city when it opened in the following two to three months.

Urban Extension Road 2 is likely to result in a substantial decrease in commuter traffic and travel time to the airport and other city locations. With this infrastructural project, the Indian capital would have better connectivity and less traffic.

In addition, Minister Nitin Gadkari stated that India has set a goal to top the global rankings for vehicle manufacture within the next three to four years.

Automobile industry has grown:

According to Gadkari, the Indian automobile industry has grown from 4.5 lakh crore rupees to 12.50 lakh crore in the past nine years. According to the minister, 4.5 crore people in the nation now have jobs thanks to the automobile business. Nitin Gadkari also discussed the government’s plan to gradually phase out the use of diesel and petrol.

“All the vehicles in Nagpur such as tractors, buses, and cars are running through bio-CNG…I have a dream to get India rid of petrol and diesel…It’s a difficult dream to achieve but not impossible” Gadkari said.

On October 1, Minister Gadkari arrived in Prague and was welcomed in the customary “Maharashtrian way” by Hemant Kotalwar, India’s ambassador to the Czech Republic. His official journey includes a stop in Prague, where he will attend the Ministerial Session on Road Safety at the 27th World Road Congress.
