Dipu Chandra Das: Streets in Bangladesh and India are full of protests after the death of Dipu Chandra Das, a Hindu worker who was falsely accused of committing blasphemy. However, the silence of Bangladesh’s interim government led by Muhammad Yunus has been questioned by one and all. Das’s family and many other minority community members have now thronged the streets asking for justice.

Who Was Dipu Chandra Das?

Dipu Das used to work at the Pioneer Knit Composite Factory in the Square Masterbari area. The sole bread earner for the family, Das had a disabled father, mother, wife and a young child to look after.

The 25-year-old Hindu factory worker was killed by a mob after he was falsely being accused of committing blasphemy. An enraged crowd attacked him, inflicting fatal injuries. The body of Das was later tied to a tree and burned by the mob.
