Farmers Protest: After Confrontation on Day 1, Chalo Dilli March Gears Up for Restart

Discover the most recent events in the farmers' protest as the Chalo Delhi march, which was initially postponed, demonstrates unflinching perseverance and prepares for a resumption today.

Farmers Protest

Farmers Protest: The Chalo Delhi march was put on hold for the night after protesting farmers engaged the police in combat on Tuesday, the first day of what they are calling a long haul. However, the protestors stated they will attempt to cross the border once more today.

Emergency Alert from Punjab Government

The Punjab government sent an alert to the hospitals in Sangrur, Patiala, Dera Bassi, Mansa, and Bathinda after numerous farmers suffered injuries on Tuesday. In an effort to prevent them from crossing, Haryana police employed drones to drop tear gas shells on the boundary. Police officers also suffered injuries.

Traffic Chaos in the Capital

The capital’s commuters saw severe traffic jams as a result of the increased security measures surrounding Delhi‘s borders. On Wednesday, a comparable circumstance is anticipated as well. After overcoming at least three layers of obstacles—removing the barbed wires and then the concrete barricades secured with rope—the farmers called off the march in the middle of the night. At night, the farmers set up camp at the boundaries of Khanauri and Shambhu.

Injured Demonstrators Prompt Hospital Notifications

Since numerous demonstrators were hurt during the altercation with the police, the Punjabi administration notified the hospitals close to the border. The government is willing to have conversations, according to Agriculture Minister Arjun Munda, but farmers are keeping adding requests to their list.

Union minister Anurag Thakur stated that while the government complied with many of their requests, more extensive consultations will be necessary on matters like India’s withdrawal from the World Trade Organisation and the revocation of free trade agreements.

Rahul Gandhi’s Pledge

Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the Congress, declared that the party would execute the Swaminathan report and offer a legislative guarantee of MSP if elected to power. Congress, according to Anurag Thakur, is deceiving and lying to the people.

“There was a Congress government for 60 years. Who had stopped them from enacting laws for all these years?” Thakur said. Following the first-ever use of drone tear smoke launchers against farmers in the nation, the deputy commissioner for Patiala stated he had a conversation with the deputy commissioner for Ambala about refraining from using drones to drop tear gas shells inside Punjabi territory.

Undeterred Resolve

The demonstrators declared that they would not abandon the demonstration and that they began the march with six months’ supply of food, petrol and other necessities. Small groups of farmers residing in ashrams and gurdwaras close to Delhi are reportedly able to stage rallies. A traffic diversion advise was released by Delhi Traffic Police in the vicinity of the Tikri, Jharoda, and Dhansa border crossings between Delhi and Haryana.

The ban on mobile internet in Ambala, Kurukshetra, Kaithal, Jind, Hisar, Fatehabad, and Sirsa was extended by Haryana until February 15.
