Farmers protest: SKM forms five-member committee for talks with Centre

The Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM), an umbrella body of 40 farm unions, on Saturday formed a five-member committee to hold talks with the Centre.

Addressing a press briefing, the protesting farmers have said that they will not move from protest sites till the government withdraws cases registered against them during stir against farm laws.

Farmer leaders Balbir Singh Rajewal, Ashok Dhawle, Shiv Kumar Kakka, Gurnam Singh Chaduni and Yudhvir Singh were named the members of the committee after a meeting was held here by the SKM.

Bharatiya Kisan Union leader Rakesh Tikait said that the next meeting of the Morcha will take place on December 7 at 11 AM to decide the future course of the movement. He announced that,” It’ll be the authorized body to talk to the Government.

The meeting assumes significance, as it is happening less than a week after the Centre had passed a bill in Parliament to repeal the three contentious farm laws.
