G20 Summit: The IMF Chief Kristalina Georgieva arrived in New Delhi for the G20 Summit. Her arrival caught the headlines as she chose to join in for some dance steps with the folk dancers that were celebrating her arrival. Notably, the video surfaced online and became viral. Now, it has also drawn response from the PM Modi himself.

Earlier, taking to X (Formerly Twitter), Georgieva posted about her arrival in the countries and that she was looking for ‘frutiful’ discussions on several global challenged. In the response, PM Modi tweeted back with, “Fully agree, @KGeorgieva. May we all work together and mitigate the pressing challenges of our time and ensure a better future for our youth. I also appreciate the affection you have shown for our culture when you arrived in Delhi.”

IMF Chief attempts dance steps

To welcome the IMF chief to the country, a cultural team presented a traditional folk dance set to a Sambalpuri song. Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan shared a video on Twitter, featuring Ms. Georgieva enthusiastically participating and dancing alongside the Sambalpuri artists. Along with the video, he wrote, “Difficult to resist #Sambalpuri beats. MD International Monetary Fund Ms. @KGeorgieva arrives in India for #G20 summit to a #Sambalpuri song and dance welcome . #OdiaPride.”

Posted mere hours ago, the video has rapidly garnered over 20,000 views and received thousands of likes. In the comments section, one user expressed, “Absolutely wonderful, a proud moment for Odias,” while another remarked, “This shows the power of our culture and music.”

Significantly, the forthcoming G20 Summit is set to kick off in New Delhi tomorrow, hosted at the recently inaugurated Bharat Mandapam situated at Pragati Maidan. The event will gather a multitude of the world’s most influential leaders, including US President Joe Biden, UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, and numerous other heads of state. These leaders will engage in discussions addressing global challenges. Additionally, top officials from prominent international organisations, including the United Nations, the International Monetary Fund, and the World Bank, will also be participating in the Summit.
