Gujarat Election 2022: Voting possibly in November; EC Press Conference to happen tomorrow

Gujarat Election 2022: According to the sources, the dates for the assembly elections in Gujarat can be announced next month. The process of election can be completed by the last week of November. If the work progresses as the initial report, voting can take place in the third and fourth week of November. Elections are likely to be held in Gujarat in two phases. Chief Election Commissioner is on the Gujarat tour as well. There, he has met officials from the State Home Ministry and all the District Commissioners.

It is expected that the program of state assembly elections will be soon finalised. The Central Election Commission has scheduled a press conference on 27th September’s afternoon regarding the Gujarat Assembly elections. The team of the Central Election Commission is on a tour of Gujarat for two days where they are reviewing the preparations for the elections and voting.

The team of the Central Election Commission discussed many issues including voter list, polling stations, sensitive centers, security arrangements. The Collector and Police Chief also presented the election preparations of their district. This was also the first major meeting of the Election Commission to prepare for the 2022 elections.

BJP State Unit President gives a hint

However, BJP state unit president C.R. Patil gave a big statement regarding the election dates. Recently, while addressing the party workers during the inauguration of new office in Anand he said, “We should be ready for elections. There are all possibilities that elections will be held 10 to 15 days prior to the schedule and end before November.” Moreover, after a slight hesitation, he added, “I am no one to announce the election date, but I see this as a possibility.”

This time the contest in assembly elections of Gujarat are expected to be triangular. Apart from the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Congress, the Aam Aadmi Party is also in the electoral fray. There are 182 assembly seats in which, presently, 111 MLAs are of BJP, 63 MLAs are of Congress, 1 Independent MLA, 2 of BTP and there is 1 MLA of NCP.
