SCO meeting: Pakistan will not attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) gathering of chief justices that will take place in New Delhi from March 10 to 12, 2023. Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, a spokesperson for the Pakistani Foreign Office, said in a statement: “Being one of the active SCO members, Pakistan frequently participates in all SCO events and positively contributes to their outcomes.”
Pakistani Chief Justice unable to attend due to prior commitments
“The Honourable Chief Justice of Pakistan would be unable to attend the SCO meeting of the Chief Justices of the Supreme Courts scheduled from 10 to 12 March 2023 due to his unavoidable obligations on the meeting dates. As a result, he apologised to his Indian counterpart, who is currently the meeting’s chair or host “added the statement. The Pakistani chief justice accepted an invitation from India to attend the ceremony, according to a report.
India to host a series of events as the current president of SCO
Now, only the Shehbaz Sharif-led nation would not attend the SCO Chief Justice meeting that India is hosting. All other members, including Iran, a new member, will be present in person for the meeting. Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari has also been invited by India to the SCO foreign ministers meeting, which will take place in Goa in May of this year. Pakistan has not yet decided whether or not the foreign minister will go, though.

India also serving as chair of G20 and SCO groupings in 2023
The SCO, which also includes China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, is now presided over by India. India will host a number of events while serving as the president of the regional forum, including a gathering of the chief justices of the participating nations. The conference of India’s transport, culture, and defence ministers is anticipated to take place in April. In the meantime, a summit on June 25 in Delhi and a conference of foreign ministers in Goa are anticipated to take place. This year, India is serving as the G20 and SCO groupings’ chairs.
