India ranked 60th in the ranking of law and order

India ranked 60th in the ranking of law and order matters of 121 countries of the world. These rankings are given in the “Gallup Law & Order Index”.

It is given a score on the index from 1 to 100. India’s score is 80. A higher score indicates that more people feel safe in that country. Singapore is at the top with a score of 96, while Afghanistan is at the bottom of the list with 51.

Countries ranked in the top five

Singapore is followed by Tajikistan, Norway, Switzerland and Indonesia in the top five, while Venezuela in South America and Sierra Leone, Congo and Gabon in Africa are in the bottom five. Pakistan is ranked 48th on the list with a score of 82, equal to Laos, Serbia, Iran and New ZealandThe US, Italy and Germany have a score of 83, while Australia has a score of 84 and Canada has a score of 87.

The survey found that seven in 10 people worldwide feel safe to walk alone at night where they live and trust their local police. Overall, the security metrics have remained stable between 2020 and 2021, the report said.

The annual Gallup survey interviewed nearly 1,27,000 people over the age of 15 in more than 122 countries and territories in 2021 and early 2022. Without explaining the methodology, Gallup said the index is a composite score based on responses to four questions to measure their sense of security and trust in law enforcement.

The questions of the survey were as follows –

Do you trust the local police force in the city or area you live in?

Do you feel safe walking alone at night in the city or area you live in?

Within the last 12 months, has money or property been stolen from you or any other household member?

Within the past 12 months, have you been assaulted or robbed?

According to the report, 71 per cent of the respondents said that they feel safe to walk alone at night where they lived and 70 per cent said they trust their local police. Additionally, 11 percent said they had stolen property from or from other household members in the past year, and 6 percent said they had been assaulted or robbed.
