India to receive 36th Rafale jet from France by mid-December

India is all set to receive its 36th and final Rafale fighter jet from France by December 15 completing the delivery of all the aircraft it had signed for in an over Rs 60,000 crore deal inked in 2016.

“The last aircraft will arrive in India around December 15. The aircraft was used for developing the India-specific enhancements in the Rafale fleet of the Indian Air Force,” ANI quoted senior defence officials as saying.

A 36-plane deal was signed, of which 35 have already been delivered and are located in Hashimara, West Bengal, and Ambala, Haryana. The 36th aircraft, with RB as its tail number, was given to India by France with all of its spare parts and other components replaced because it was being utilized for research and development, the officials said.

Six of the 36 Rafale jets will be trainers, and the remaining 30 will be fighter jets. The twin-seater training jets will be equipped with practically all of the fighter jet’s characteristics.

The Indian Air Force, on the other hand, has been modernizing the aircraft to the highest standards and outfitting them with all India-specific improvements.
