India-UK Relations: On Thursday, Rishi Sunak congratulated Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for congratulating him on taking office as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. Sunak expressed his excitement for what both countries can accomplish in the ensuing years.

"Thank you Prime Minister @NarendraModi for your kind words as I get started in my new role. The UK and India share so much. I'm excited about what our two great democracies can achieve as we deepen our security, defence and economic partnership in the months & years ahead," Tweets Sunak.

PM Modi announced on Twitter that he called with Rishi Sunak on Thursday and gave him his congratulations on being chosen as the new prime minister of Britain. According to PM Modi, both parties would cooperate to further solidify the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak was chosen on Tuesday. In the previous six years, he is the fifth elected leader of the Conservative party. The first person of Indian descent to hold the position of prime minister in Britain is Rishi Sunak.
