New Delhi: A important step has been taken towards the delivery of the first C295 for India by successfully completing its first flight, which is scheduled for the second half of 2023. India purchased 56 C295 aircraft in September 2021

'The first Make in India aerospace programme has made tremendous progress with this inaugural flight. This initiative demonstrates our dedication to enhancing the operational capabilities of the Indian Air Force (IAF), which is poised to become the largest operator of the C295 in the world,' according to Airbus Defence and Space's Head of Military Air Systems Jean-Brice Dumont. According to sources, India purchased 56 C295 aircraft in September 2021 to replace the (IAF) antiquated AVRO fleet.

TASL in India will produce and assemble the following 40 aircraft

This plan will considerably help Indian businesses build their indigenous capabilities for a "Aatma Nirbhar Bharat." The C295 is an unsurpassed aircraft in its weight and mission class thanks to the 280 orders from 39 operators that make up the global C295 programme. In Seville, Spain, the first 16 aircraft will be put together and delivered to the customer in "fly-away" condition. As part of an industrial collaboration between the two businesses, Tata Advanced Systems Ltd. (TASL) in India will produce and assemble the following 40 aircraft. The first real, large-scale Make-in-India defence project now being developed in Gujarat is the C295 Final Assembly Line, which will open up the entire industrial value chain for the design, production, assembly, testing, delivery, and maintenance phases of the aircraft's entire lifecycle.
