India’s first water metro flagged off by PM Modi, offering a unique urban transit solution

PM Modi: In order to provide seamless communication with the metropolis, India’s first water metro, which connects 10 islands near Kochi with battery-operated electric hybrid boats, was flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is on a two-day visit to Kerala. In delivering infrastructure and connectivity, the Modi administration has consciously decided against taking a one-size-fits-all approach, according to the officials. Because Kochi is surrounded by so many islands, 10 of them are highly significant and densely populated, making this a transport system that changes the game,’ the managing director of Kochi Metro Rail Limited told ANI before to PM Modi’s visit to Loknath Behera.

Some Key Points about Kochi Metro

  • In its initial phase, the KWM service will be made available from the High Court-Vypin and Vyttila-Kakkanad terminals. Starting at Rs 20, boat tickets are available. There are weekly and monthly passes available for frequent travellers.
  • With eight electric hybrid boats created by Cochin Shipyard Limited, the metro project will get underway. This fantastic project is being funded by the Kerala government and the German business KfW. It has 78 electric boats and 38 ports.
  • One can travel on the Kochi Metro Rail and Kochi Water Metro with a Kochi One Card. The Kochi One App enables people to buy tickets online.

PM Modi went to Thiruvananthapuram

The foundation stone was laid by Prime Minister Modi, who also opened several projects totaling more than Rs 3,200 crore. PM Modi will also dedicate the rail electrification of the Dindigul-Palani-Palakkad stretch in addition to the Kochi Water Metro. When PM Modi arrived in Thiruvananthapuram, he was welcomed with open arms. On Tuesday, he signalled the beginning of the inaugural Vande Bharat Express in Kerala between Thiruvananthapuram and Kasargod. In Thiruvananthapuram, PM Modi also laid the cornerstone for the Digital Science Park. According to the PMO, the Digital Science Park is envisioned as a crucial research site for the creation of digital goods and services for business and industry.

PM Modi strolled around the streets of Kochi

The Prime Minister held a massive roadshow in Kochi on April 24 before to his arrival for a two-day visit in Kerala. He also visited with the leading bishops of Kerala, where he promised to defend the Christian community. PM Modi strolled around the streets of Kochi while wearing traditional Kerala clothing. On both sides of the street, people lined up to support the prime minister. They also bombarded him with flower petals. Also spotted shaking hands with folks was PM Modi. He was led to an SUV by security personnel after a more than 15-minute walk.
