INS Mormugao to be commissioned into Indian Navy today

The indigenous INS Mormugao is going to join the Indian Navy to compete with China in the sea. Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh will induct it into the Navy at the Naval Dockyard in Mumbai. According to the Indian Navy, INS Mormugao is equipped with many advanced weapons and missiles. It is fitted with modern radar and air-to-air missiles. This is also a specialty that enemy’s radars cannot locate it easily.

Will be equipped with missiles like BrahMos


8 missiles like BrahMos, Barak-8 will be installed on INS Mormugao. The enemy can be tracked with the radar system on Mormugao. This system can target the enemy up to 70 kilometers in the air. Apart from this, it is capable of hitting the enemy up to 300 kilometers in the sea. Along with this, anti-submarine rocket launchers are also installed in it.

Rocket Launcher and Torpedo Launcher are arranged

INS Mormugao has four powerful gas turbines. It can run in the sea at a speed of more than 30 knots. It is made in India only. It has a system of rocket launcher, torpedo launcher and SAW helicopter. This INS is also capable of fighting in all types of nuclear, biological and chemical warfare conditions.

The Navy said that INS Mormugao is 163 meters in length, 17 meters in width and weighs 7,400 tonnes. It can be counted among the deadliest warships built by India.

The second of the four Visakhapatnam class INS will be formally inducted into the Navy. It has been designed by the indigenous organization of the Indian Navy and constructed by Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited. Today Defense Minister Rajnath Singh will include it in the Navy.

It is named Mormugao after the historic Goa port city on the west coast. It was first launched into the sea on 19 December 2021, the day Goa completed 60 years of independence from Portuguese rule.
