Isro Chief S Somanath welcomed in flight with heartfelt announcement

S Somanath

India became the first and only nation to achieve this feat as Chandrayaan-3 carried out a successful soft landing on the South Pole of the Moon on August 23. This incredible accomplishment is a result of the scientists and researchers at the Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro), whose work has received praise from all across the world. Following this triumph, Isro Chief S Somanath experienced a touching moment when the crew of an IndiGo flight he boarded gave him a very warm welcome.

Air hostess Pooja Shah recorded the wonderful scene and posted it to Instagram. The caption with the video reads, “MR S SOMANATH – The chairman of Isro. Felt privileged to get a chance to serve Mr S Somanath on board our IndiGo flight. It’s always a pleasure to have national heroes on our flight.” The video begins with Pooja making an announcement over the aircraft’s PA system – her voice brimming with pride as she introduces S Somanath to the passengers.

“I’m glad to announce the presence of Mr S Somanath – the Chairman of Isro – who boarded our flight today. A huge round of applause for Mr Somanath and his team. We are proud to have you on board, sir. Thank you so much for making India proud,” she announced.

The passengers gave their enthusiastic response, clapping and turning in their seats to see the well-known scientist. S Somanath was approached by another member of the flight crew carrying a tray of food and drinks as well as a message that was probably written in praise, which the Isro chief gladly received.

Pooja shares some photos she shot with S. Somanath in the video’s epilogue, capturing a special moment of the national hero’s acknowledgment.
