Kerala: ASI suspended for inappropriate behavior towards underage rape survivor

Kerala: An assistant sub-inspector (ASI) was removed from his position after it was claimed that he misbehaved with a young victim of rape. The complaint from the girl in Wayanad led to the action being taken against Ambalawayal ASI TG Babu.

Case has been registered following the girl’s statement

A case has been launched against him under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and Section 354 of the Indian Penal Code for outraging the modesty of a woman.
The girl had said that the constable had misbehaved with her as she was being taken to Ooty by the police to collect evidence in a rape case.

Investigation led to TG Babu’s suspension

Her complaint was investigated by the Wayanad police chief, who then reported his findings to the deputy inspector general of police (DIG). The DIG issued a suspension order for TG Babu based on the report.
