Kerala government decides, the families of the dead of covid-19 will get 5000 rupees every month

The P Vijayan government of Kerala has decided to provide financial assistance of Rs 5000 per month to the dependent families of those who lost their lives due to Covid-19. This new relief will be different from the financial assistance already being given and the benefit of the old relief will also continue to be available. .The Vijayan cabinet took this decision on Wednesday. The new decision will be applicable to those families who are below poverty line (BPL).

An official release from the Kerala Chief Minister’s office regarding the cabinet decisions said, “Financial assistance will be given to the dependent BPL family of the deceased who died of COVID-19. Availability of pension will not make them ineligible. The benefit will be given to those families who are residents of the state, irrespective of whether the person has died within the state or outside or outside the country.”

As per “the decision of the cabinet, the dependents will have to submit a simple one page application. The concerned district collector and revenue officers will be tasked to take necessary steps for this. The benefit should be paid within a maximum of 30 working days. The village officer should ensure that there is no government official in the dependent family, the release said. Not an employee or income tax payerApplicants should not be called to office to decide on allotment.”

It has also been said in “the official release that under Direct Benefit Transfer, Rs 5000 per month will be directly transferred to the dependent’s account for three years. It has also been said in the release that till the budget allocation for this scheme is not done, it will be given from the Chief Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund.”
