Kerala Govt Announces Reservation For Transgender In Nursing Course

The Kerala government on Wednesday announced reservation for transgender students pursuing nursing studies in the state.

Health Minister Veena George said that one seat each will be reserved for transgender members in B.Sc Nursing and General Nursing courses.

“For the first time in the history of the state, reservation has been given to transgenders in the field of nursing,” he said in a statement.

He said that the state government is taking important initiatives for the upliftment of the marginalized community and reservation in nursing is a part of this initiative.

George also said that the step has been taken to ensure representation of members of the transgender community in the nursing field.
