The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court Thursday granted bail to Union Minister Ajay Mishra’s son, Ashish Mishra alias Monu, who is accused of the murder of four farmers and a journalist in the Lakhimpur Kheri district last year. Ashish Mishra is the second accused to be granted bail in the case.
Ashish’s bail application was moved in the Allahabad High Court after his plea was rejected by the lower and session court of Lakhimpur Kheri. Last month, after hearing the plea, the Lucknow bench the High Court reserved its order.
Ashish was arrested on October 9, 2021, in the Lakhimpur Kheri case. He was declared the main accused in the chargesheet filed by Special Investigation (SIT) in the incident that took place on October 3.
In the incident that shocked the nation, the four farmers were crushed to death under the wheels of a convoy of cars, including the one belonging to the Union minister.
