Maharashtra Issues Fresh Covid-19 Guidelines

The government of Maharashtra on Thursday issued fresh measures in the wake of rise in Covid-19 cases in the state. The new guidelines will be applicable till March 31, 2021.

According to the new order, all theatres and auditoriums have been asked to operate at 50% capacity, and no one will be allowed to enter without proper wearing of masks.

All private offices will function at 50 per cent capacity. No political and cultural events will be permitted in theatres and auditoriums.

If the norms are violated, the premises will be shut down till the time the COVID-19 is notified as a disaster by the Centre.

While the government has told private offices to function at 50 per cent capacity, the department heads of government and semi-government offices will decide on the required number of staff.

The manufacturing sector can function at 100 per cent capacity, the guidelines said.

In case of government and semi-government workplaces, the head of the office will take decision related to staff attendance ensuring adherence to all Covid-19 protocols. The rules, however, states that manufacturing sector can function will full capacity.

Fresh curbs by Maharashtra government comes a day after the state recorded over 25,000 Coronavirus cases, making it the highest daily surge ever since the pandemic broke in March 2020. Even a day before, on Wednesday, Maharashtra recorded over 23,000 new cases.
