The INDIA bloc has revised its plan to hold a symbolic protest against Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar, renaming the proposed “Mock Parliament” event as “People’s Impeachment” or Jan Mahabhiyog. The decision comes as opposition parties continue to raise concerns over electoral roll revisions and alleged irregularities in the electoral process.

According to an NDTV report published on October 29, the event is scheduled to take place at Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge’s residence in New Delhi on October 30. Opposition leaders reportedly changed the format to avoid any action that could be interpreted as contempt of Parliament.
Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi to Lead Proceedings
Kharge, the Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, is expected to initiate the proceedings, while Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, will deliver the concluding address.
Former Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar has been entrusted with conducting the proceedings, with assistance from a Samajwadi Party MP whose name had not been finalised at the time of the report.
Leaders from 19 opposition parties are expected to participate. Most speakers will be allotted five minutes each, while representatives of the Samajwadi Party and the Trinamool Congress will reportedly receive ten minutes each. The programme is expected to feature around 30 speakers, including civil society representatives and people who say their names have been deleted from electoral rolls.
