Manish Sisodia questioned by ED at Tihar Jail again in Delhi excise policy case

Manish Sisodia: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Thursday questioned former Delhi deputy chief minister for the second time inside Tihar Jail where he was sent for two weeks by a Delhi court. The central agency, which probes the money laundering links, grilled the AAP leader in lieu of favouring certain businessman and politicians under its now-scrapped Excise Policy. Officials are likely to question the AAP leader on Friday as well.

AAP says Sisodia kept with ‘dangerous’ criminals

Earlier, AAP had raised questions over Manish Sisodia’s safety inside the jail, alleging that he has been kept with “dangerous” criminals.

“Manish Sisodia has been kept in jail number 1 of Tihar jail under conspiracy. Undertrials are not kept in jail number 1 where country’s most dangerous and violent criminals are kept who are prone to violence and murder. The court had ordered that Manish Sisodia will stay in Vipassana Cell, why has he been kept with hardened criminals despite the court’s order?” Bharadwaj asked in a press conference.

Tihar jail denies the allegations

Reacting to the accusations levelled by the AAP leader, Tihar jail prison official said Sisodia has been assigned a separate ward owing to security issues.

“The ward of CJ-1, where he is lodged has minimum number of inmates who are not gangsters and are maintaining good conduct inside the jail”, the prison officials were to as saying by news agency ANI.

“A separate cell makes it possible for him to meditate or do other activities without any disturbance. All arrangements, according to jail rules, are in place to ensure his safety and security. Any aspersions cast about his lodgings are unfounded”, the prison officials added.
