NEET aspirant dies by sucide due to fear of failure

The young woman lived with her parents and brother in the armed forces reserve quarters in Madurai

 A day before the conduct of the medical entrance examination, an 18-year-old NEET aspirant hanged herself to death in Tamil Nadu’s Madurai on Saturday. The deceased has been identified as Jyoti Durga.

In a suicide note left behind by Jothi Sri, she wrote, “I really studied well. But I’m afraid. If I can’t get the medical seat, I will disappoint everyone.”

Also, told her family they should not blame themselves for the step taken by her. The suicide was because of her fear of failing in the exam, she wrote. 

The young woman lived with her parents and brother in the armed forces reserve quarters in Madurai. Her father Murugasundaram serves in the fifth battalion of the armed forces. She had written the NEET exam last year but only managed to score 100 odd marks. She had been preparing for a year for the exam to be held on Saturday. 

Earlier, on Tuesday a day after Supreme Court dismissed a petition seeking postponement of National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) and Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) scheduled to be held in September, a 19-year-old Coimbatore girl died by suicide allegedly out of fear of writing the paper.
