Not a single village will go to Karnataka, says Maharashtra deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis

Maharashtra and Karnataka border dispute is very old. Actually, there are some border areas of both the states on which both the states have their own claims. Maharashtra’s claim is based on the presence of Marathi speaking people in some areas of Karnataka. Similarly, Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai today claimed that 40 villages of Jat taluka of Sangli district of Maharashtra want to join Karnataka because of the large number of Kannada speakers. Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis have given a befitting reply to this.

The reason for this controversy to heat up once again is that from today the hearing on the Maharashtra-Karnataka border dispute is going on in the Supreme Court. On such an occasion, the CM of Karnataka said, ‘People of 40 villages of Jat Taluka of Maharashtra want to join Karnataka. We are seriously considering their demand. After this, reactions started coming from every party in Maharashtra.’

Maharashtra CM Shinde’s response, assured not to visit even a single village

This issue is going on in the Supreme Court. The demand of the villages of Jat taluka is old. There is a problem of water scarcity. We had an important meeting on this yesterday and the day before. We will not let even a single village go from Maharashtra to Karnataka. Respecting the decision of the court, will solve it through talks with the help of the central government. Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde said while talking to the media after visiting Sai Baba in Shirdi today.

Still there is a ruckus in Maharashtra on the statement of CM of Karnataka

Shiv Sena’s Uddhav Thackeray faction MP Sanjay Raut said that there is BJP government in Karnataka, Sindhe faction (weak) government in Maharashtra which runs at the behest of BJP. BJP wants to divide Maharashtra into 4-5 pieces. Senior BJP leader Sudhir Mungantiwar said that it was Jawaharlal Nehru’s fault that the boundaries in the state were fixed in such an illogical way. If the Karnataka government is claiming 40 villages in Maharashtra, then there are hundreds of such villages in Karnataka too, on which we have a claim, let them keep this in mind.

No village from Maharashtra will go to Karnataka, localities will come here from there

Talking to the media in Nagpur on this whole matter, Devendra Fadnavis said today, ‘Chief Minister Eknath Shinde held an important meeting a few days ago on the issue of border dispute. Important decisions were taken in this meeting. Our plans to fully help the people living in the border areas have started. That is why perhaps the CM of Karnataka has given this statement. Not even a single village of Maharashtra will go anywhere. We will bring back many villages from Karnataka including Belgaum, Karwar, Nipani to Maharashtra by fighting in the Supreme Court.’

‘Water will be available to the villages, complaints will be removed’

Fadnavis said that the villages of Jat taluka of Maharashtra had expressed their desire to go to Karnataka in the year 2012. But this thing is out of date. The villagers complained that they were not getting water. Fadnavis said that when he was the chief minister, he had held talks with Karnataka. These villages were included in the revised plan of Mhaisal.

Further, Fadnavis said that in the last two and a half years, these schemes were not recognized during the Mahavikas Aghadi government. Maybe the decision has not been taken because of Corona. Now work on this scheme is going on at full speed. Water will be available to the villages soon. The central government has also given money for this. There is no dearth of money to complete the plans.
