The 246-kilometer Delhi-Dausa-Lalsot portion of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway was officially opened by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday from Dausa in Rajasthan. The new stretch is expected to reduce the traval time from the capital to Jaipur’s travel time from five hours to roughly three and a half hours.

From Dausa, Modi unveiled road construction initiatives totaling more than Rs. 18,100 crore. During the event, Modi laid the foundation stone for two 247 km national highway projects that will cost more than 5,940 crore to construct.
The PMO claims that the creation of several world-class motorways around the nation is a testament to Modi’s emphasis on the development of good road infrastructure as a catalyst for growth, development, and connectivity in “New India.”
Delhi Mumbai Expressway will be India’s longest
With a 1,386 km length, the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway will be the longest in India. It will shorten the distance between Delhi and Mumbai’s travel destinations by 12%, from 1,424 km to 1,242 km, while reducing the journey time by 50%, from the current 24 hours to 12 hours.
The highway will connect important cities including Kota, Indore, Jaipur, Bhopal, Vadodara, and Surat while traversing six states: Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, and Maharashtra.
Along with spurs to future greenfield airports like Jewar Airport, Navi Mumbai Airport, and JNPT port, it would also service 93 PM Gati Shakti Economic Nodes, 13 ports, eight major airports, and eight multi-modal logistics parks (MMLPs).
Nitin Gadkari, the minister of state for transportation, VK Singh, Gajendra Singh, and other officials were in attendance on stage during the event. Ashok Gehlot, the chief minister of Rajasthan, and Manohar Lal Khattar, the chief minister of Haryana, both gave speeches during the programme through video link.
Gehlot attended the show from the chief minister’s residence in Jaipur, while Khattar spoke from a gathering in the Nuh district.
