Prime Minister Narendra Modi meets with 14 prominent leaders of Jammu and Kashmir to discuss the prevailing situation in J&K and the future course of action for the UT with leaders from the Gupkar alliance.
The three-hour meeting held at PM Modi's Delhi resident.

Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad shared the details of the meeting and said we raised 5 issues in the all-party meet:
1) Restoration of Statehood
2) Assembly polls
3) Protection of land rights of the people of J&K
4) Honourable & dignified return of K.Pandits
5) Immediate release of political prisoners.

"The Home Minister said the government is committed to granting statehood to Jammu and Kashmir. All leaders demanded full-fledged statehood," Azad said.
Terming the meeting “cordial” and “positive”, People’s Conference leader Muzzafar Hussain Baig said PM Modi assured that he will do everything to make J&K a zone of peace rather than conflict.
“All leaders demanded statehood. To which PM said, the delimitation process should conclude first and then other issues will be addressed. It was a satisfactory meeting. There was complete unanimity for restoring peace in J&K,” Baig added.

Security forces in J&K are on high alert
Meanwhile, security forces in J&K are on high alert as PM Modi met leaders of the People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD), a coalition of mainstream parties in J&K, in New Delhi today.
This was the first key meeting since the abrogation of article 370 on August 5, 2019, and the division of state into two union territories.
PDP's Mehbooba Mufti, National Conference's Farooq Abdullah, Congress' Ghulam Nabi Azad, and other leaders of Jammu and Kashmir were present at the meet.
PM Modi tweeted after the meeting, "today’s meeting with political leaders from J&K is an important step in the ongoing efforts towards a developed and progressive J&K, where all-round growth is furthered."
