Mann Ki Baat: PM Modi remembers Ustad Bismillah Khan, hails India’s Digital payment success

Mann ki Baat: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday addressed the 98th edition of his radio programme Mann Ki Baat. During his last address which took place on January 29, the Prime Minister had urged his audience to ask questioned related to those who were honoured with prestigious Padma Awards.

While addressing the radio programme, PM Modi remarked that the UPI (Unified Payments Interface) system and e-Sanjeevani App are shining example of the power of Digital India, a similar sentiment that he had shared during the recent G20 meet.

PM Modi remembers Ustad Bismillah Khan during Mann Ki Baat

PM Modi also remembered Ustad Bismillah Khan ji and highlighted the use of musical instrument ‘Sursinagar’. 

“My dear countrymen, whether it is about Banaras, about Shehnai, about Ustad Bismillah Khan ji, it is natural that my attention will go towards that. A few days ago ‘Ustad Bismillah Khan Youth Award’ was given,” said PM

“Do you know which instrument this is? It is possible that you may not even know! The name of this instrument is ‘Sursingar’ and this tune has been composed by Joydeep Mukherjee.”: PM

Craze of Indian toys in foreign countries

PM Modi also talked about the frenzy of Indian toys among foreigners and said, “Indian toys have become such a craze that their demand has increased even in foreign countries Nowadays, Indian toys have become such a craze that their demand has increased even in foreign countries. When we spoke of Indian genres of story-telling in “Mann Ki Baat’, their fame also reached far and wide.”

Tele-consultation through E-Sanjeevani app 

PM Modi also emphasised on the use of E-Sanjeevani app for better medical services. During Covid, the app proved to be a great boon for people, he said. He added, “The power of Digital India is visible everywhere. The E-Sanjeevani app is helping in teleconsultation with doctors. I congratulate doctors and people for using this app. It helped a lot during the pandemic time.” 

PM Modi said that over 10 crore people have availed the services of E-Sanjeevani, adding the app has been a resourceful took for people living in Himalayan areas.

PM Modi hails revival of Triveni Kumbha Mela

PM Modi also highlighted the revival of Triveni Kumbha Mela after 700 ears. “Two years ago, the Triveni Kumbha Mahotsav of Bengal was revived after 700 years. I applaud the people’s efforts who not only revived a tradition but also are protecting the cultural heritage of India” Further adding, he stated, “Kumbh Mela was organised last year to restore the cultural heritage of Tribeni and revive the glory of Kumbh tradition. Seven centuries later, the three-day Kumbh Mahasnan and the fair have infused a new energy into the region.”

PM Modi also spoke about Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and said share the story of  Kamala Moharana, a sister from Kendrapada district of Odisha who runs a self-help group. “The women of this group make many things like baskets and mobile stands from milk pouches and other plastic packing materials, he said.
