Snowfall Update: Hills to shiver with light snowfall today, respite on cards from THIS date

Snowfall Update: The Western Himalayan region, including Jammu and Kashmir, is expected to experience rainfall and snowfall due to a Western Disturbance. The Western Disturbance is a trough in the lower and middle troposphere of the westerlies and its axis is located at 3.1 km above mean sea level. Currently, it runs along Long. 60°E to the north of Lat. 32°N.

Where will the snowfall happen today?

This weather phenomenon is expected to bring light isolated to scattered rainfall and snowfall to the regions of Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan & Muzaffarabad and Himachal Pradesh today, as per the latest forecast made by the Indian Meterological department.

The Western Disturbance is known to bring winter rainfall to the western Himalayan region. This rainfall and snowfall makes the weather conditions intense and causes the hills to remain under the white sheet of snow However, it can also lead to disruptions in daily life and transportation. Residents are advised to take necessary precautions and stay updated on the latest weather information.

Hundreds of roads closed in states

In conclusion, the Western Himalayan region, including Jammu and Kashmir, can expect rainfall and snowfall due to the Western Disturbance. Residents should take necessary precautions and stay updated on the latest weather information. The upper reaches of the nation have been experiencing severe rainfall and snowfall since the last week of January.

Earlier, traffic had disrupted vehicular movements in several hilly regions. As many as 450 roads were shut in Himachal Pradesh alone where dozens of electricity transformers stopped working too. Many roads are still closed in several regions.
