PM Modi said that the use of technology will help in achieving the goal of making India a developed nation by 2047. He said that India is creating a digital infrastructure on a large scale and ensuring that the benefits of the digital revolution reach everyone. In a webinar series being organized after the general budget, Modi said on the topic ‘Harnessing Potential: Ease of Life Using Technology’ that the government wants to reduce the compliance cost for small businesses. He asked the industry to prepare a list of compliances that could be done away with.
Only technology between complaint and solution
The Prime Minister said, ‘we want to reduce the compliance cost of small businesses. Can you come up with a list of unnecessary compliances that can be done away with? We have eliminated 40,000 compliances. He said that technology is being used to solve the problems faced by taxpayers. For this the tax system is being made ‘faceless’. He said, ‘now there is no human being between your complaints and their resolution, only technology.’
Modi said that it was only because of technology that the ‘One Nation, One Ration’ scheme could come true. He further said that the JAM trilogy (Jan-Dhan Yojana, Aadhaar and mobile number) helped in reaching the benefits to the poor. The Prime Minister said that technologies like 5G and AI (Artificial Intelligence) are being discussed and are ready to transform medicine, education, agriculture and many other sectors. He asked the stakeholders to identify 10 such problems faced by the common man, which can be solved using AI.
He said that the 21st century is technology-driven and it cannot be limited to only digital, internet technology. Modi said, ‘In every budget of the last few years, the emphasis has been on making life easier for the people with the help of technology. Technology and human touch have been given priority in this year’s budget as well. He also said that the interference of the government has reduced now and the citizens do not consider the government as a hindrance.’
