Justice for Preethi: The woman medico, who attempted suicide five days ago after being harassed by her senior, died on Sunday. She was being treated at a state-run hospital.
Preethi, a second year post graduate, in Telangana had allegedly attempted to kill herself after being harassed by her senior Saif. She was undergoing treatment Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS).
Woman medico dies after five-day long battle
Preethi was rushed to hospital after she allegedly committed suicide in the face of continuous harassment. Despite treatment by specialists, she passed away on Sunday night.
The hospital released a statement which read, “In continuation of health update of Dr Preethi, despite continuous efforts by multidisciplinary team of specialist doctors, she could not be saved and declared dead on February 26, at 9.10 pm.”
Senior arrested
Several medical students had staged protests after Preethi’s suicide attempt. After preliminary investigation in the case, Police arrested Saif on Friday.
Saif, who is a second-year student in the department of anesthesia at the medical college, had made several vile comments on social media to belittle Preethi.

The incident has enraged netizens who are now using social media to raise their voice. #Justiceforpreethi has been trending on Twitter with over 10.2k tweets.
“Dr Preethi, was a hardworking medical student, who was driven to the end due to constant harassment by this monster. She and her family deserve justice! #JusticeForPreethi,” wrote one user.
