Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced the launch of Kavach 4.0 in Sawai Madhopur. This state-of-the-art safety system aims to protect trains from accidents and improve passenger security. The installation of protective measures in the region is complete, marking a crucial first step. Looking ahead, the government plans to equip 10,000 locomotives with this advanced armour and expand coverage over 9,000 kilometers of railway tracks. This initiative promises to transform the landscape of rail travel in India, prioritizing safety and efficiency.
Strengthening Security Measures to Safeguard Kavach 4.0
During his inspection of Kavach 4.0, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw emphasized the need for strict action against anyone attempting to sabotage the new safety system. He highlighted that protecting this vital technology is a top priority. Additionally, Vaishnav mentioned that he has been in discussions with the Directors General of Police (DGPs) from various states, and the National Investigation Agency (NIA) is also involved in these efforts. This collaborative approach aims to ensure the security and integrity of Kavach 4.0 as it rolls out across the country.
Advanced Safety Features to Prevent Speeding Incidents
Kavach 4.0 introduces advanced safety features. These are designed to protect train operations. One important feature alerts train pilots if their speed exceeds the limit by just 2 km/h. This keeps them informed and allows for corrective action.
If the train’s speed rises more than 5 km/h above the safe limit, the system automatically engages the brakes. This provides an additional layer of safety. In critical situations, if the speed surpasses 9 km/h over the limit, emergency brakes are activated. This brings the train to a swift halt.
